Philanthropy

The sisters of Sigma Delta Tau pride ourselves on building leadership skills and opportunities as well as establishing a sense of philanthropy and community service. Our National Philanthropies are Prevent Child Abuse America, JWI, and the SDT Foundation. We strive to find creative ways to donate our time, energy and money to assist these philanthropies.

Here is a list of some of our favorite philanthropy events we hold  or particpate in every year!

Battle Of the Greeks

At our Battle of the Greeks event this past fall, Greek organizations from all over campus formed teams and competed in a series of fun games! Each Fraternity and Sorority was lead by a team captain from Sigma Delta Tau and together, battled it out to see who would be crowned champion! All proceeds of the event were donated to Prevent Child Abuse America.

SPA Night

At our annual spa night, we have women from all over Rutgers come treat themselves to manicures, eyebrow threading, and henna tattoos. These women also had the opportunity to purchase discounted designer makeup, jewelry and clothing items from Stella and Dot, as well as our sorority's very own signature OPI nail polish "Girls Achieve Grapeness". All of the proceeds from this event were donated Jewish Women International (JWI) to help empower women, and prevent domestic violence.

Phi Esta

Every year, the sisters of Sigma Delta Tau participate in a week long event called Phi Esta. The fraternities oh campus with the letter "Phi" in their name pairs up with another sorority on campus to compete in events such as a talent show, fundraising competition, paddle making, Instagram competition, and more. This event is close to our hearts because it benefits Team Legrand Believe Foundation. Eric Legrand was a football player here at Rutgers who became paralyzed making a tackle during a game. We love supporting this organization and others like it to give back to people close to us.

Pasta Night

Everybody ΣΔΤs pasta at our annual pasta night event! At this philanthropy event, we serve unlimited pasta, garlic bread, breadsticks, and drinks at our wonderful home on College Avenue. Anyone and everyone is welcome to this event we hold in the spring! The proceeds from this event go straight towards our wonderful philanthropies. Who wouldn’t want to eat pasta for a great cause? Stay tuned to find out when our next pasta night is, you definitely will not want to miss it!

Dance Marathon

Every spring, our organization takes part in Dance Marathon, which is one of the biggest fundraisers at Rutgers, to raise money for the Embrace Kids Foundation. Last year, as a whole, the Rutgers community raised over $900,000 for this amazing cause. Our goal for this upcoming spring is to raise over $1,000,000 and we cannot wait to be apart of such an amazing feat. The Embrace Kids Foundation is very close to our hearts and we are going to give back in anyway that we can.
